The Lockport Amateur Radio Association conducts a Weekly Sunday Night Check-In Net on its 2 meter Repeater, W2RUI, in Lockport, NY on 146.220 / 146.820 MHz (PL Tone 107.2).
The Check-In Net is held every Sunday of the year, even during our Summer Meeting Break. The Check-In Net starts at 8 PM EST. Stop by and say hello. The Net is open to al licensed amateur radio operators within the repeater's range. Please remember proper repeater etiquette. Our net call for our Club Officers and Board Members to check-in first, followed by a call for anyone else wishing to check-in.
To check in:
1. Call the repeater > "W2RUI"
2. Un-key you Mic to listen for the repater's courtesy beep to avoid doubling with someone.
3) Proceed to SLOWLY and CLEARLY (info is being handwritten in a log):
Give your call sign, first name and QTH (city or village)
Say "No Traffic" or "No Comment" if you are just checking in.
If you wish to comment, please wait until the Net Controller acknowledges you, before commenting, UNLESS it's and emergency call.
LARA Sunday Net Script
The time is now 8 PM local. It is time to call the LARA Net
Calling the Lockport Amateur Radio Association Sunday Night Net.
Calling the Lockport Amateur Radio Association Sunday Night Net.
This is (Your Call, First Name and Location), I will be your controller for this edition of the LARA Net.
This net meets every Sunday at 8 PM for the purpose of exchanging Club information and information of general amateur interest.
For the duration of this net, I will be using the club Call W2RUI. Membership in LARA is not needed to participate and we encourage check-ins from all licensed Radio Amateurs. When checking in, wait for the courtesy tone, give the club call, W2RUI, unkey and after the courtesy tone sounds again, re-key and follow with your Call, First name, and Location for the log. Speak slowly and clearly so we can log you in correctly. If at any time the repeater is needed for emergency use, simply break in. (unkey for just a second)
Please be aware that this is a linked repeater system. The KC2WBX repeater system is linked covering the Southern tier on UHF. We also have AllStar and Echolink nodes operating. Allow a slight pause between keying and speaking so the system can react and the beginning of your call is not lost. Also, it is MANDATORY to hear the courtesy tone before you transmit to allow the repeater to reset. Following this procedure will prevent “doubling”.
A reminder: Every other Sun. Sept. thru May, our Swapnet follows this net. We also host an informal 10 meter net on 28.390 MHz, USB, every Sunday following our repeater nets. All are welcome.
It is the practice of this net to first take check-ins from Officers and Board members. Then it will be opened to General check-ins. Officers and Board members, call W2RUI now.
